Visual Branding

Local Cafe, Gandhinagar I Brahmani

Local Cafe, Gandhinagar I Brahmani

This project was done on a live size local cafe; Brahmani, opposite to my university. The owner of the cafe was the client and the branding has been done taking into consideration the brand value and what the cafe has to offer.

A visual brand image would create a more impactful identity not only for the frequent customers (i.e students)  but also for the ones who visit their cafe for the first time.

They are popular through hearsay and because of the lack of better and cheaper places nearby. Since these places are so far off from the city area, they would definitely benefit from a strong visual identity which highlights their authenticity and strengths.

Disclaimer: This project is solely done for academic purposes.

Logo Ideations:

Before finalising on one logo, multiple ideations were put onto paper

and then illustrated.

Logo Variations:

Font pairings and

deciding a typeface

led to the final logo.

Colour Palette

Black Food is associated with the colour yellow, hence amber yellow is taken for the logo. Along with yellow, black gives a good contrast to the design adding to the second colour to the logo.

Typography

.

This typeface is used for writing “jay brahmani” in the logo. It is old-school, giving a chalkboard vibe which goes well with the brand values.

RF BARBARISKA ROUGH

GILL SANS

This typeface is used for writing the body copy for all the collaterals. It is paired with the logo font, Barbariska.

It is clean, legible and versatile. Moreover, it’s easy to read and understand.

Logo Concept:

The logo is comprised of three elements, i.e the food cover lid, freshness of the food served at the cafe and the minimum time taken to prepare the food. “Fast food” has been taken as the primary idea for this logo.

Logo Construction:

The logo was constructed keeping in mind the basic shapes and it’s properties. It is created taking circle as the base and then turning it into a form in accordance with the concept.

Logo Padding:

The logo needs to have clear space around it, secondary elements should not hinder the logo. By placing the box of 0.05 cm by 0.05 cm, there’s enough breathing space given around the logo.
